I agree about the apology absolutely - indeed I certainly should have done that in private before posting this; and then I wonder about posting it.

Learning experience for others yes - but should it have been posted?

Anyway, I really have no way of knowing who left because of me. I did apologize indirectly through last year's group leader.John Hhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17015850035301812424noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14054730.post-3562788370506127402007-09-25T19:28:00.000-07:002007-09-25T19:28:00.000-07:00Feel free to bounce over to my latest post. I kind of address your concern about chronically practicing the same sin (in your case, porn).

BTW, I'd apologize to them personally, whether they read your blog or not. Just a suggestion.

Blessings!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14054730.post-56529753418152029952007-09-25T13:42:00.000-07:002007-09-25T13:42:00.000-07:00>Anonymity has been maintained completely. While th...>Anonymity has been maintained completely.

While this happens all the time, and people have their reasons for it, in my opinion it is not biblical and almost always destructive.

I know of no biblical warrant for accusing a brother anonymously and it often reveals as much about the people involved as it does with the errant brother.

The other side of the issue is that sometimes the truth hurts and people pick up their feet and leave. Even Jesus dealt with that (John 6:66-67). It was interesting that he didn't try to convince anyone to stay.

There is nothing wrong with correction, discipline, and rounding off the rough edges of our social manners, as long as we keep a proper distinction between sin and social niceties. We need to remember that as a family, God expects more of us, not less.Beyond The Rim...https://www.blogger.com/profile/07510076064880450438noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14054730.post-58620281811773517432007-09-17T03:02:00.000-07:002007-09-17T03:02:00.000-07:00Folks who talk to me, especially at Street Prophet...Folks who talk to me, especially at Street Prophets, will relate to that.

Oh dear JCH, I so admire and I so pray with you, for our communal struggle as followers.

Words have such power and how we use them can hurt or heal. That said, here you are, prayerfully exploring this topic.

What a reminder - for me to do the same. Oh sometimes I look at what I wrote and think "oh no." Like most of the time...

Thank you for this thoughtful post and for your prayers.
